TEMPERATURES plummeted around the region as North Yorkshire entered another day of disruption due to snow and ice.
The lowest recorded temperature in the region on Thursday night was -16.1c at Topcliffe, while RAF Linton-on-Ouse dropped to -11.9c, while daytime temperatures for Friday struggled to reach zero.
A spokeswoman for MeteoGroup weather forecasters, said things were not due to improve by much: “Temperatures will be well below zero even at the coast for the next few nights.
“Minus six is expected tonight but minus 10 wouldn't surprise. Snow is expected over night which should clear by morning when there will be mist and patches of freezing fog.”
The spokeswoman said the weather would be less cold in the coming days with possible rain, but warned the rain would fall on frozen ground making driving hazardous and advised extra care when travelling.
She also said the weather would be bright on Sunday, with more snow expected early next week.
