POLICE in Thirsk have criticised youngsters for throwing snowballs.

Sergeant Sharon Findlay said: “We don’t want to be killjoys; snowballs are all part of the fun of winter between friends – but aggressive and antisocial behaviour won’t be tolerated, and that includes throwing snowballs at innocent members of the public.

“Elderly and vulnerable people find it very distressing, as do people whose property is damaged.”

Police said there had been an increase in calls to them in recent days and appealed for witnesses to phone 0845 6060247.
