A 32-year-old has been jailed for ten years after being found guilty of robbery.

Mark Sanclemente, of Ellerslie Road, White City, was found guilty of robbery on Friday after a two week trial at Harrow Crown Court.

The sentence relates to a crime on May 4, 2012, during which Sanclemente and another man robbed a 29-year-old man in Douglas Avenue, Wembley of a large amount of cash.

The two thieves attacked the victim as he was carrying money from the family business in Oxford Street down Douglas Avenue.

He was punched and strangled until he was unconscious before being robbed.

The robbers then made off in a stolen BMW, but were pursed by a witness.

Police attended the scene immediately and a search of the area using a police dog resulted in the recovery of some of the stolen money.

Following further investigations, Sanclemente was arrested on June 14 while driving on the M25.

He was charged on June 15.

Detective Constable Tom Palmer, of the Priority Crime Unit at Wembley Police Station, said: "This was a particularly violent robbery in which a large amount of money was taken and I am delighted the sentence reflects this.

“The defendant was identified following extensive enquiries by Brent Priority Crime Unit and was arrested with the assistance of Surrey Police.

“I hope this emphasises the determination of officers to pursue offenders wherever the investigation leads.

“I would like to commend the bravery of the witness who pursued the robbers and the courage of the victim in giving evidence about this traumatic ordeal."
