A SNOW warden scheme in York has been boosted with the recruitment of 100 volunteers.
The wardens are trained by City of York Council to clear the worst of the winter snow from cul-de-sacs and side streets, with equipment and clothing provided, and the authority is appealing for more people to sign up and join the team. Volunteers ideally need access to a mobile phone or the internet to get information on the weather and gritting decisions during heavy snow.
For more information or to volunteer, phone Michal Czekajlo on 01904 551841 or email michal.czekajlo@york.gov.uk, while you can also log on to york.gov.uk/gritting or follow @yorkgritter on Twitter.
