Events lined up for annual Selby Fun Day

PLANS are coming together for this year’s Selby Fun Day on Sunday, June 17.

The events will be spread between three locations and will include shire horses, vintage tractors and birds of prey at land next to the Community Centre in Scott Road.

There will be the annual dance display by Claire Collins Dance Group in the arena, followed by the presentation of trophies to the winners of the fun run, which will be organised by Selby Striders. Sponsored by Space Creative the run sets off from Selby High School’s sports field at 10.30am.

Musical entertainment in the Community Centre will be from the Bob Crossland Band and the Riverside Stompers from noon.

Another concert will be held on the recreation ground in James Street, from 12.30pm, and will feature the winners of this year’s Selby Battle of the Bands final.

The line-up for this year’s final, which will be held at the Town Hall on Saturday, June 2, is The Breeze, We Could Be Astronauts, Keep it Cash, Hope N Social, Arthur Rigby, Complete Weller and Supermodels.

At Selby Park, there will be a brass band concert at the bandstand featuring Barlby Foottappers, Selby Music Centre and South Milford Brass Band.

Entertainment on all three sites is free.
