A VETERAN choir singer from North Yorkshire will receive Maundy Money from The Queen when she visits York this year.
Edith Bond, who sings with St Mary’s Church in Tadcaster, has been nominated to receive the honour from The Queen for her work with the church, and for being a member of the choir for 40 years.
Mrs Bond, 81, said: “I got a letter from Buckingham Palace about it and I was delighted, very honoured. I read the letter, then put it down and thought, ‘I’d better read that again’, because it hadn’t gone in.”
