ENERGY-saving steps have been taken to help save funds for the Selby Community Trust.
Solar panels have been installed on the roof of the Scott Road Community Centre, at a cost of about £15,000, to save on the centre’s electricity bills, and create hundreds of pounds of revenue for the trust.
Town council leader Steve Shaw-Wright said the trustees had invested in a new heating system, and also hoped to be successful with a funding application for new windows. He said the trust had also applied for grants for double-glazed windows and last year had a new, more efficient boiler fitted.
