A DECISION on ambitious plans for an indoor ski slope in Selby have been put back two months after proposals were re-submitted.

Selby District Council received an updated copy of plans to build a leisure village - including the slope, a five-lane ten-pin bowling alley and skate part - on January 7.

The resubmission means a decision will not be made on the proposals until April 8, according to the authority's 'important dates' on the planning section of its website.

The Press originally reported a decision was likely to be made by councillors in February.

A spokesman for Selby District Council said: "The plans for the leisure village were re-submitted to allow a minor technical amendment to be made to the information which accompanied the application.

"This change was needed to clarify that ownership of the site remained with the council.

"Further questions were also asked by the Highways Authority and the opportunity is being taken to gather the information necessary to respond in full."

A report submitted to planners said the site would complement the sports facilities at the leisure centre, which include a six-lane 25m swimming pool and a learner pool, a studio gym, sauna and steam rooms and an outdoor all-weather sports pitch.

The developers’ report said: "The proposal is centred on the establishment of an innovative and exciting leisure offering focused on increasing participation within the prime young person target group, whilst also providing a coordinated family attraction for the site.

"The Leisure Village development primarily offering activities focused at the 0 to 24 year age ranges. The exceptions are the ten-pin bowling and the climbing activities that extend their age profile to the adult catchment."
