RESIDENTS in Selby have been warned about bogus phone calls.
Fraudsters have made a number of calls to residents in the district, with more than 20 separate incidents reported to the council on Thursday.
A spokeswoman for the authority said: “Residents report that the calls ask them about having an accident that was reported to Selby District Council.
“All residents should be on their guard and be aware we would not contact them in this way. Anyone contacted in this way should not give their details and should contact the police on the non-emergency number 101.”
The spokeswoman said the fraudulent calls have all been reported to North Yorkshire Police.
