SELBY residents are being urged to get ready for winter by ensuring their boilers are ready for the cold weather.

The npower Health Through Warmth scheme is being run to raise awareness of the impact that warmth in the home can have on health and wellbeing, and offers vulnerable people like those with a long term illness, low income or no savings help to get crucial repairs or replacements for their heating.

Scheme manager Elaine Midwinter said: “With autumn now in full force, it is important that people took action to ensure their health and wellbeing were not affected by cold temperatures at home.

“Residents in Selby should check that their heating system is in full working order now to reduce the risk of it breaking down when the winter months really take a hold.

“This is especially important for vulnerable residents in the community, who have long-term illnesses.” For more information about the scheme or to find out if you or someone you know could be eligible visit healththroughwarmth.com
