PUBLIC consultation has opened into the licensing of taxis in Selby.

Selby District Council has urged the public to have their say on the licensing policy for taxis and private hire vehicles in the district.

Council leader Mark Crane said: "The new policy is available online, and anyone is free to comment on it. In particular we want to know what you think about two areas - how long we issue licences for and whether or not people have trouble finding a taxi that they can get in and out of without problems.

"To effectively regulate the taxi industry it is important that we seek the views of members of the public, especially regular taxi users and people who rely on the service for their transport needs. We want to make sure that different types of vehicles are available to meet the needs of every passenger."

The short online survey can be taken at selby.gov.uk/news before November 14.
