A NORTH Yorkshire MP has urged the government to invest in a major development in Selby.
Nigel Adams, MP for Selby and Ainsty, has appealed to Kris Hopkins, minister for housing at communities and local government, to invest in the redevelopment of the former BOCM Olympia Park site which already has planning permission for up to 900 homes, as well as restaurants, shops, improvements to the roads and employment opportunities.
Mr Adams said: “I have supported this development since BOCM’s closure was announced. It has now reached the stage where work can start when the finance is available.
“This is a very important project for the Selby and Yorkshire region. District. I have made the case that Government money from the local development fund should be used to kick start the project. I first wrote to the Minister about this funding in May 2014. With the decision expected soon I have written again to the minister to emphasise the importance of this project to Selby and the Yorkshire region.”
A decision on funding is expected to be made on Monday (JULY 7).
