BURGLARS stole jewellery and cash from a charity shop in Selby.

The thieves broke into Help The Aged in Finkle Street overnight on Tuesday, and stole costume jewellery, costume watches, two eternity rings, a charity collection tin, several pairs of new socks and pants and a small amount of cash.

North Yorkshire Police said the stolen costume jewellery included a silver ring with a large aquamarine stone and a Miss Kitty watch.

PC Julia Allen of Selby Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “I am sure that members of the public will share our disdain that anyone could target a charity in this way and will help us find out who is responsible.

“If you have any information, no matter how small or insignificant you may think it is, please do not hesitate to contact the police. If you want to remain anonymous you can call Crimestoppers instead of the police.”

Anyone with information that could help police, or who has been offered any of the items for sale has been urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, email julia.allen@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk

Or you can also telephone Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
