FORMER Brayton resident Elsie Harrison celebrated her 101st birthday with a party at her daughter’s home in the village attended by relatives and friends.

For Mrs Harrison it was a catch up celebration as due to a broken hip last year, she was in hospital for her centenary and unable to have a proper celebration.

Her daughter, Lynn Allan, said: “Unfortunately last year mum had the accident which meant she was in hopital so this year it was a double celebration.”

Mrs Harrison was born in Leeds and came to live in the Selby area ten years ago, residing at St Wilfrid’s Court in Brayton before moving to Temple Manor Care Home in Temple Hirst two years ago.

A widow for the past 15 years, but before her husband’s death, they were both keen sequence dancers attending dances four times a week.
