TWO men have been fined for poaching in the Selby area.
Jamie Sanderson, 24, of Hodgson Lane, Birkenshaw, Bradford, and Andrew John Ward, 18, of Threntham Grove, Leeds, both pleaded guilty to night poaching when they appeared at York Magistrates’ Court, and were each fined £70 and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £20 victim surcharge.
Police were called to a report of suspected poachers at Scarthingwell, near Church Fenton, at 7.15pm on Sunday, October 20, 2013, and found a Fiat Punto in an isolated spot.
The officers saw a bright light move across the fields toward the Punto, which moved off.
Police followed the car and pulled it over in Church Fenton. Sanderson and Ward were questioned, and officers found two lurcher dogs in the car and a large lamp connected to a battery.
