THE MP for Selby and Ainsty, Nigel Adams, is set to meet with the Health Secretary, Jeremy Hunt, to discuss possible withdrawls of services from the New Selby War Memorial Hospital.

So far, there has been no decision to cut or withdraw services at the hospital, but local speculation about the future of the minor injuries unit and other services.

Mr Adams said: “The North Yorkshire PCT has had a recurring financial deficit which has gone on for several years and must be addressed.

“I will certainly be trying to ensure that no important service at the new hospital is withdrawn.

“However, I am surprised at the lack of proactive communication from the PCT over this problem especially as I and other MP’s met with chief executive, Christopher Long in September and we were meant to be updated before the end of the year”

Mr Adams will meet Mr Hunt on Monday.
