RESIDENTS in Cawood have been urged to remain vigilant after raiders tried to break into a property in the area.
The unoccupied property in Rythergate was targeted between Saturday, November 17, and Saturday, November 24, when an attempt was made to break in through the rear door.
North Yorkshire Police have urged residents who witnessed anything suspicious in the area in recent weeks to contact them with information, and also to ensure their own homes are properly secured.
Sergeant Andy Walker, of Selby police, said: “Thieves are opportunistic and will take advantage of easy targets if they get the chance. Don’t give them the chance to get into your home.”
