MORE space is to be created for pupils at a Ryedale school after plans for an extra classroom were approved.
North Yorkshire County Council has secured permission to build an extension at the back of Sherburn C of E Primary School, near Malton , to make up for the loss of facilities caused by a temporary building coming to “the end of its useful life”.
The new classroom will be placed on part of the playground at the school in St Hilda’s Street, with more space for pupils to have their breaks being created on neighbouring land.
The county council, whose plans were approved by Ryedale District Council, said the facilities in the temporary building were no longer of a suitable standard for teaching and the scheme would also mean more playground space.
