Annual call to make sure you can vote

RESIDENTS are being urged to text, phone or use the internet to make sure they are eligible to vote.

Annual canvass forms have been sent out by Ryedale District Council to all homes, with the authority saying they have had a “good response” but reminding people they need to reply in order to stay on the electoral register and be able to have their say in future elections and referendums.

“Using the phone, text and internet is a really easy option, and by responding this way, time and money can be saved and people can be sure they have the right to vote,” said Simon Copley, the council’s democratic services manager.
