Parish bid to increase number of councillors

THE twin villages of Foston and Thornton-le-Clay want to increase their number of parish councillors from five to seven because of the number of applicants.
A formal request has been made to Ryedale District Council asking it to carry out what is known as community governance review, said district solicitor, Anthony Winship.
Mr Winship said the review was likely to take between six and nine months because either a local poll will have to be held or a questionnaire carried out to ascertain public opinion.
