Malton and Norton’s third annual folk festival has been declared the best yet.

The festival was revived following a break of 20 years and has gone from strength to strength.

One of the organisers, Rowena Garner, said they had received fantastic support for the event.

“The feedback we have had has been brilliant with people saying this was the best festival so far,” she said.

“We had music sessions throughout the weekend, many carrying on all day and into the evening as well.”

This year the first day’s events were held in Norton with an informal session at The Union Inn where singers and musicians performed their own brand of folk music.

Saturday saw Malton’s Market Place host dance teams from Yorkshire and beyond as well as Cajun and international dance workshops.

Rowena said: “We now hope to hold another festival next year as so many people said how much they enjoyed it.”
