Community café to open in Pickering
8:22am Tuesday 8th May 2012 in Ryedale news
A CHARITY is to open a community café in a Ryedale town after securing permission.
The Wilf Ward Family Trust which provides a range of services to people with disabilities drew up the plans after buying the former North Yorkshire County Council highways office in Southgate, Pickering.
Its plans for the building, which is currently vacant, have now been approved by Ryedale District Council and will see office space remain at the site alongside a café which is designed to open up employment opportunities by allowing disabled people to run it and gain catering experience.
The building will have full disabled access and facilities and Richard Pick, the chief executive of the trust, has said it will be an “exciting” development which will benefit the community.
