A LOCAL charity which helps rescue and home abandoned dogs is holding a fundraising auction on Saturday.

The Yorkshire Coast Dog Rescue Pickering and Malton branch was set up last October and has already raised hundreds of pounds as well as receiving a £500 donation from the Really Useful Group.

This weekend’s auction will include more than 80 items ranging from family tickets to local attractions to a Porsche driving experience.

Organiser Kate Collier said the event would be opened by Father Antony Pritchett and Peter Illingworth had agreed to be auctioneer.

“We have had quite a few fundraising events since our branch started,” she said.

“Pickering people have been so generous and we hope it won't be long before we have an event in Malton. All funds will help to rescue dogs in this area, we get most of them via the local dog warden from the pound.”

The auction is at Pickering Memorial Hall with viewing at 7pm followed by the auction at 7.30pm. Tickets are £3, including a glass of wine and nibbles.

For more information and tickets phone Kate Collier on 01751 473245.
