Farmer’s antiques under the hammer

11:44am Wednesday 14th March 2012

ANTIQUE furniture and a rare commemorative silver collected over many years by a well-known Ryedale farmer, goes under the auctioneer’s hammer on Saturday.

The late Colin Todd, a former chairman of Ryedale District Council and a Weaverthorpe farmer, who died last year, had been an avid collector of antiques and period furniture for many years.

Now many of the items are to be sold at the David Duggleby auction rooms in Vine Street, Scarborough, starting at 11am.

There is expected to be keen interest in a collection of silver from Garrard’s the Royal jewellers, created to celebrate the Silver Jubilee.
