RYEDALE District Council (RDC) is asking for views on proposed changes to the current Council Tax Support (CTS) Scheme.

Each year the council has to decide whether to change the CTS scheme for working age applicants.

This year RDC has decided that changes should be made to bring the CTS scheme in line with the changes made by the Government in housing benefit and universal credit.

The scheme for pension age customers is set by Government and is not affected by any of the options set out in the council’s consultation.

Cllr Luke Ives, chairman of the policy and resources committee, said: “There are several changes that are being considered and we would like to hear people’s views on the proposals.

“It is important that we support those most vulnerable in our society. None of the options being considered make drastic changes to the amount of council tax individuals would pay and will continue to take into account individual circumstances.”

The consultation is open until September 2. To look at the options and complete the survery, go to snapsurveys.com/wh/s.asp?k=153191018887.

The final decision on the proposed changes will be taken by the council in December.
