THIS year’s Malton Show had only its second female president in the event’s 132-year history.

Georgia Jones was joined at the show by her husband Danny Jones, a member of McFly, and their six-month-old son Cooper.

“I was really surprised and delighted to be asked to be this year’s president,” she said.

“It is also lovely that I am able to bring my family with me to enjoy this wonderful show.”

Georgia, who is originally from Norton, where her parents, Jean

and Gareth Horsley, still live, said she loved coming home to

Ryedale.

“I just love it round here and would love to move back, but unfortunately it’s not practical with our work,” she said.

Georgia said she had to explain to Danny what Malton Show involved. “He’s certainly not been to anything like this, but we have had an amazing day,” she said.

“My parents have also come along, as well as my sister and her children and one of my friends who also lives in London, but is originally from this area.”

As part of her role as president, Georgia toured the showground to judge the trade stands, as well as the pet lamb competition and fancy dress.

“I used to come here as a child and it is amazing to see how much the show has grown,” she said.

“There are many more attractions and things to see. It really is a great, family day out.”

Georgia’s chosen charity for the year is the First Norton Scouts, with 50 per cent of the funds raised being donated to Breast Cancer Care.

“I was a venture scout when I was younger and it is so important for young children to be involved in these sorts of things, plus they also need all the funding they can get,” she said.

“I am also passionate about supporting Breast Cancer Care as my mum has twice had breast cancer.”

Georgia, who gave birth to Cooper in January, said she was enjoying being a mum.

“It is hard work, but I am loving every minute of it and it has been great to come to Malton Show with Danny and Cooper,” she said.
