A FUNDRAISING husband and wife team are organising their fourth event in aid of two local stroke support groups.

Paul and Helen Hudson, from Rillington, are holding a tractor run on Sunday to raise funds for Ryedale Stroke Group and Driffield Stroke Club.

The couple have raised money for a charity close to them each year with 2014’s tractor run raising nearly £3,000 for MacMillan Cancer Support.

Paul said they had chosen the support groups, because people close to the couple have had recent experiences of suffering a stroke.

“It really is a wonderful day out, to experience the nature and the views, and best of all we are helping people who are dealing with the effects of a stroke by raising funds for these support groups who are so needed in our rural area,” he said.

The Tractor Run is approximately a 32-mile route and as most of the route is along farm tracks, rather than the roads, views are seen that would not be accessible.

It starts from Manor Farm, Wintringham, at 10am after bacon butties, to stop off for a pie and peas lunch before making their way to the Middleton Arms at North Grimston for about 2.30pm, where there will be a chance to view the tractors.

Entry is £12 per tractor and includes lunch. There is also a raffle.

Pat Thompson, Ryedale Stroke Group, organiser said “We are absolutely delighted to be involved, it is a first for us and are very grateful to Paul and Helen for organising this event to benefit two groups providing help to stroke survivors.”
