FOLK fans from across the country came to Malton and Norton at the weekend to enjoy a feast of music and dancing.

The annual folk festival, now in its sixth year, included everything from Border Morris to American Appalachian dance teams attracting crowds to Malton’s Market Place on Saturday.

Music was provided by a variety of performers, including Steve Turner, Tim O’Connor, Black-beard’s Tea Party and Chris Helme.

Singarounds were also held at the Blue Ball and Suddaby’s, in Malton, and The Union, in Norton, along with a craft and Fairtrade market.

Helen Morgan, one of the festival organisers, said: “We had a brilliant atmosphere and the whole festival went really well. Many people who hadn’t been to the area before commented on how much they enjoyed it.”
