A FATHER was left sickened after discovering live worms in his dinner.

Stuart Jackson, of Slingsby,was with his partner Vickie and four-year-old son Joshua eating their cod loin dinner when they discovered the worms, which were about six centimetres, wriggling inside the fish.

Stuart, 34, said he had bought the two pieces of fish from Morrisons in Malton earlier that day.

He said: “I felt sick when I realised what they were. At first I thought it was a vein in the fish, but then we looked closer we realised it was a worm.

“Joshua was playing up a bit so my partner, Vickie, was feeding him. When we cut into the fish we noticed that there was something in it. I wasn’t very pleased at all, I had already eaten mine and Vickie had eaten half of hers. Luckily we hadn’t fed Joshua any of his yet.”

A spokesman for Morrisons said: “Worms occur naturally in all fish and the vast majority of the time are identified and removed during the skinning or packaging processes.

“However, very occasionally, one will slip through the rigorous inspection processes we have and it appears this was the case here.

“We have apologised to the customer for the inconvenience and have sent him a gesture of goodwill.”
