HELIUM balloons containing cash could fall over York today, as part of a national casino company's marketing campaign.

999 red balloons, 200 of which contain a £5 note each, were let loose from a secret location in Yorkshire earlier today, along with one golden balloon containing a £250 jackpot.

Whoever finds the cash gets to keep it.

Although the balloons have not been tracked, they could travel for up to 15 hours before landing.

York Press:

The balloon release was a marketing stunt by LeoVegas.com, to coincide with the end of its first year's trading.

Shenaly Amin, UK country manager at LeoVegas.com, said: "We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate our anniversary and new TV advert than by sharing our success with the nation.”

Balloon releases have come under fire in recent years, due to the potential harm to animals that unwittingly eat the deflated balloons once they land.
