MALTON Post Office is to close for two weeks as part of a modernisation programme.

The branch will be shut from 5.30pm on Tuesday, February 17 to 1pm on Tuesday, March 3, while it is refurbished to provide a new open play layout.

In addition to three counter positions the new-look post office will have open-plan counters and one secure fortress position. Opening hours will also increase by five on Saturdays.

The move is part of major modernisation programme across the post office network designed to make it easier for customers to do business, through longer opening hours and modern open plan environments.

Post office services will be available during the closure from branches in Beverley Road, Norton and High Street, Rillington.

Julie Kemp, area manager, said: local residents and small business customers would be able to access a wide range of post office and mails services.

“We know how important post office services are to residents in Malton and we are confident that this vibrant modern post office at the heart of the community will be popular.

“The modernisation is part of a major government investment programme that is enabling us to continue investing in the post office network and to map out a bold growth strategy through to the end of the decade.”
