PHOTOGRAPHS showing Ryedale's beauty and recipes to tantalise the taste buds are being called for by a local charity.

Saint Catherine's hospice is appealing for photos and recipes to appear in the 2016 hospice calendar.

Already looking ahead to next year, each year pictures taken by amateur photographers are chosen to appear in the calendar to help the hospice raise vital funds for patient care.

Hospice fundraiser Richard Barwick said that the calendar proves to be extremely popular not only with local residents but also with people living overseas.

He said: "The beauty is that it features photographs taken by the public of places they love. It’s bought by people all over the world.”

A total of 12 recipes are also chosen to appear in the calendar which needs photos from Ryedale, Whitby, Scarborough, Filey, Bridlington and Driffield suitable for all four seasons.

This year, the hospice has chosen to do things a little differently as well as as shortlisted photographs will feature on the hospice's Facebook page. The pictures which get the most 'likes' on the site will help to guide the final selection.

A maximum of four recipes and photos can be sent in per person and must be submitted by February 20. Entries should be posted to Richard Barwick at Saint Catherine’s Hospice, Throxenby Lane, Scarborough, YO12 5RE, or emailed to richard.barwick@st-catherineshospice.org.uk
