A MAN has been charged with possession of a knife on a train platform.
The 38-year-old from Scarborough was arrested at Seamer station at 8.24am on Friday after members of the public phoned police to report his carrying what appeared to be a kitchen knife.
Officers were sent to the scene, and a spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Police said the man placed the knife on the ground and was arrested. She said the man had been charged with possession of a knife in a public place and for trespassing on the railway, and was refused bail.
The man is due to appear before magistrates at a later date.
