FROM treasure hunts to spooky crafts, there is plenty happening in the North York Moors for half-term.

The National Trust’s Old Coastguard Station in Robin Hood’s Bay is the place to head on Saturday for a treasure hunt with a difference. Use GPS units to search for clues and goodies in hidden boxes along a two-mile walk.

On Tuesday, the National Park has teamed up with East Barnby Outdoor Centre to offer children aged nine to 16 an activity day, including canoeing, mountain biking, dry slope skiing, climbing and body boarding.

At The Moors National Park Centre, in Danby, there is a range of different activities, including making bat T-shirts and hedgehog homes on Tuesday and ghoulish and ghostly Halloween creations on Thursday, October 30.

Sally Ann Smith, events and exhibitions coordinator for the North York Moors National Park Authority, said: “Don’t let the colder weather and darker nights put you off getting out into the North York Moors, there’s still plenty to see and do.

“Both The Moors National Park Centre at Danby and Sutton Bank National Park Centre will also be running a spooky self-led trail with a small prize if you find all the clues.”
