A WORLD renowned violinist is taking a break from his UK tour to perform at an historic chapel.
Alexandre Dubach will perform at Sinnington Methodist chapel – the second oldest in North Yorkshire – on Tuesday, September 20, at 7.30pm.
The concert is being organised by the Reverend Stephen Gamble, from the parish of Sinnington, and Reverend Brian Shakleton, from the chapel.
Alexandre gave his debut at the age of 15, performing Mendelssohn’s violin concerto with the Tonhalle Orchestra, in Zurich, where he later became leader.
He has taught in Castel del Monte, at the international master classes in Zurich and Sion and is also in great demand as a teacher in Eastern Europe.
More used to performing in vast concert halls than in little chapels, Alexandre’s recent tours have taken him across Europe to London.
He said: “I am delighted with the invitation to play at Sinnington Methodist Chapel and I am looking forward to visiting Yorkshire and seeing valuable heritage.”
Reverend Gamble said: “It promises to be a unique experience.
“It will be a boost for the historic Methodist Chapel which has magnificent tiered seating which is perfect for the acoustics.”
Tickets are available at the door priced £10 and £8 for concessions. Children are free.
