NEXT year’s Farndale calendar will go on sale on August Bank Holiday Monday at Farndale Show.

The calendar features pictures by local photographers and proceeds from its sale will go to Farndale Village Hall’s rebuilding fund. The calendar is priced at £6, with about £3 per calendar going to the fund.

Farndale Show is held on the showfield at Church Houses, Farndale, and features cattle, sheep, goats, horses, ponies, showjumping and gymkana. While in the tents there are fur and feather, horticultural and industrial classes, photographs, art and children’s classes. For those interested in old tractors and machinery there are also vintage classes. Highlights of this year’s show will be a gundog display by Les Dixon of Mountgrace Gun dogs, falconry display by Cuerdon Birds of Prey, the Bezerkaz Circus Workshop and a sheep shearing demonstration.

Other events include Clydesdale horses, sheepdog trials, a beagle parade, terrier racing and tug-o-war.

Music will be provided by Bilsdale Silver Band. The show opens at 10am and entry is £4 for adults and £1 for children, under-fives free. Parking on showfields cost £3 but there is also free parking in adjacent fields.

Following the show, the calendar will be available from local outlets including Feversam Arms Inn, Farndale, and BATA Kirkbymoorside.
