RYEDALE area MP Anne McIntosh said village schools are vital to rural life after visiting a remote school at Rosedale Abbey.
The high-flying school, which has been praised by Ofsted, has benefited from sparsity funding from the Government and North Yorkshire Council.
Miss McIntosh, MP for Thirsk and Malton, said: “That recognises its unique location, rurality and sparsity factors. It has dedicated teachers led by an outstanding head and other staff, who ensure children of the area get a great start in life and bring real joy to their parents and the com-munity, and rewarding their teachers for their dedication and commitment.
“Rosedale Abbey School is a centre of excellence, working in federation with Nawton Primary School.”
