THE Gazette &Herald has teamed up with Ryedale Dog Rescue to help the dogs in its care find new homes.

Hallo and Weenie are two beautiful lurchers who came into the care of Ryedale Dog Rescue from a local council pound on Halloween 2013.

They were in very poor condition and Weenie had a severe cough. Following consultation with a veterinary surgeon, Weenie was referred to a specialist who performed a delicate operation to remove half an ear of corn from deep inside his lung. It is believed the dogs had survived by eating corn and the offending piece had been ingested during that time.

Now fully recovered, the boys are ready to start a new life in a forever home. They are approximately 18 months old and would appear to have always lived together, they may even be brothers. They will share their food and are happiest when laid on their bed sharing a big cooked marrow bone.

Because of their close bond Ryedale Dog Rescue is looking for a home where they could stay together. They walk well on their leads and love human company. For further information on Hallo and Weenie, please phone Ryedale Dog Rescue on 07581 324153.

To help us raise funds to save more dogs like Hallo and Weenie why not join the charity’s sponsored walk. Starting from The Gannock, Old Malton, at 10.30am on Sunday, May 18, the walk will be approximately six miles.

Donations in lieu of sponsorship would be gratefully received and if you already own a Ryedale Dog Rescue dog the charity would love to see them.
