MORE than £1,600 has been raised for two local charities – thanks to the efforts of the chairman of Ryedale District Council.
Coun Eric Hope hosted a grand charity evening at the Jinnah Restaurant, Flaxton, for Macmillan Cancer Support and Ryedale Stroke Group.
He said: “We had a wonderful evening which was well-supported by plenty of people, including a number of council staff.
“The Jinnah staff were excellent – providing the perfect venue for this event – with first class food and wonderful entertainment from the belly dancers.
“A great night was had by all and we raised a fantastic amount for my charities. Many thanks to everyone who helped and supported me.”
