A COW named after pop megastar Beyonce took the top prize at York’s annual Christmas fatstock show.
The event, which took place at the York Auction Centre yesterday, saw Beyonce, the Limousin heifer, named Supreme Champion of the show, by judge Jeremy Sissons, a master butcher from Pocklington.
Beyonce also won the Ron Holgate Breeders Trophy and was bought by David Penny of Rawdon, Leeds.
Edward Stephenson, auctioneer, said: “It was a good day.
“We had more than 50 show cattle and bulls for the judge to look at. It was a very well attended event, with a very good atmosphere and we are very pleased with the way it went.”
The Reserve Supreme Championship went to the Wagstaff Family of Sutton-on-the- Forest with a home bred British Blue heifer which was also bought by David Penny.
