YES, York does need more homes that are affordable, but they will only be snapped up by greedy wealthy people who will then rent them out to fill their own coffers (The Press, May 1).

Give the first-time buyer a sporting chance to own their own home.

Give it a few months, there will be loads of 'buy to let' properties flying around as they try to beat the impending crash. Then wait a few more while they are stuck with properties they can't sell at a profit. Then make them an offer you can afford
