I WAS quite annoyed to read the recent Diary item (The Press, December 29), about the journalist's daughter whose rabbit had to be put to sleep after being terrified by a fox.

Any responsible (or sensible) rabbit-owner knows that rabbits shouldn't be left out in their runs overnight; they should be securely kept in their hutches.

As for saying that the incident had made her feel differently about the fox-hunting ban - how ridiculous.

Just because she was foolish enough to leave her rabbit out overnight doesn't mean that it's all right for foxes to be mauled to death by hounds.
