A MOTABILITY show is being held at Runcorn Shopping Centre.

The event runs from Monday, June 2 to Wednesday, June 4.

Halton Council has teamed up with Polar Ford and the centre to offer shoppers advice and information.

Halton Clr Marie Wright, board member for health and wellbeing, said: "With the personal independence payment being introduced by the Government there are a few changes as to who is and is not eligible for a motability vehicle.

"We will be here to give advice and guide people through the process.”

Runcorn Shopping centre manager said: "We are very happy to support this project as it is vital people know about motability and Shopmobility to enable them to have the independence they deserve.

"We have forged a great working relationship with Polar Ford and Shopmobility who both have shops in the centre and this is the next step in that. We hope as many people as possible will come and find out more."

Polar Ford has donated a motability vehicle to Halton Council to help shoppers get around the centre.

Graham Woods, general manager of Polar Ford Runcorn, said: "It's great that we've been able to make a contribution to Halton Council to help shoppers get around and support making Runcorn more accessible.

“All of us at Polar Ford look forward to the pop-up shop launch and discussing Motability and shopmobility with local shoppers."

Halton community services samba band will provide entertainment and there will be a chance to win an iPod and get money off at a coffee shop.

There will be an information stand and food served by service users from Halton Council's Country Cafe scheme, where people with special needs learn new skills.

Chris Edwards, Ford's customer events specialist with motability operations, and a wheelchair user himself, will also be there to answer questions on Motability.

He has a vast knowledge of the scheme and also of the wide variety of adaptations that are available to enable Motability customers to enjoy the maximum benefit from their car.
