More than three-quarters of the population think the Government is not doing enough to support British troops in Afghanistan, a survey has revealed.
The YouGov poll commissioned by Sky News asked the views of 2,127 people and found only 13% said it was "very clear" why British troops are in Afghanistan.
More than half (57%) said they should not be fighting in the country.
Support for the war was clearly divided along lines of gender with 40% of men saying troops should be there as opposed to just 17% of women.
Just over one in 10 people (12%) said they thought the Government was doing enough to support the troops and 82% said it should provide better support.
The poll was commissioned ahead of a series of special programmes on Sky News examining what the future holds for the country.
