FULFORD Parish Council could be next in line to start its own Neighbourhood Plan, following new government rules which give local communities powers to create their own plans and policies.

Communities can come up with a neighbourhood plan which will become part of local planning policies under the Localism Act 2011.

With Fulford’s application to start a plan, a six-week consultation is now underway giving people chance to have their say on the boundaries for Fulford’s plan area.

The consultation will run until Wednesday, February 18 and information is available at West Offices, online at www.york.gov.uk/neighbourhoodplanning and on local street notice boards and in ther prominent public areas in Fulford.

Responses can also be emailed to neighbourhoodplanning@york.gov.uk

Work on the plan can formally start once the plan area is agreed.

It will have to be submitted to City of York Council for another six-week public consultation, and examined by an independent inspector, before it could be finally adopted.
