FIRE crews were called to a flat in Scarborough on Saturday.
Residents reported a burning smell at the building in Lonsdale Road at just after 8am, and firefighters discovered a fire in the kitchen of the ground floor flat at the property.
A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said the fire had started in the microwave, which was destroyed, and caused minor damage to the kitchen.
Nobody was hurt.
