CAT lovers have been urged not to overfeed their pets this Christmas.
James Hodgkison, York Cats Protection adoption centre manager, said: “Everyone loves to indulge a little more at Christmas, but overfeeding your cat or giving them some foods can be quite dangerous for its health.
“Food like mince pies, chocolate and nuts can even be fatal to cats.
“We’re also urging cat owners to be extra cautious about the dangers that Christmas decorations can be for cats, such as holly and mistletoe which can potentially be toxic.
“The charity wants to ensure that cats remain safe and happy at Christmas time, so hopefully these top tips will help this.”
The charity is also urging owners to sponsor a bauble on its Christmas tree, which can be done at justgiving.com/YorkCatsProtection or by texting to 70070 with the message: XXCP99 £5 and responding to the gift aid link.
