THE man responsible for bringing the Tour de France to Yorkshire will be the guest speaker at a fundraising gala dinner.
Gary Verity, chief executive of Visit Yorkshire, is to appear at The Lord Mayor of York Charities’ dinner on February 5 at Pike Hills Golf Club.
Kirsten Ovenden, chairman of the fundraising group, said: “He is going to speak about bringing the Tour de France to York and the trials and tribulations along the way.”
The event is sponsored by Headway Sound. Phil Wiggins, from the company, said: “As a new company, we couldn’t have chosen a better event or more worthwhile local causes for our first sponsorship.
“We are thankful to the Lord Mayor and his team for the opportunity to support their fundraising efforts.”
