MOTORISTS, bus passengers and pedestrians will receive greater protection from overhanging trees and vegetation thanks to a project to make the city’s bus routes safer.
The York Quality Bus Partnership, made up of all of the city’s bus operators, have chipped in to pay for Tree surgeons are being brought in to trim any vegetation which obstructs buses or covers timetable cases, bus stops or bus shelters.
Branches which that overhang the highway can cause damage to vehicles, break windscreens and poses a hazard to pedestrians and other road users if branches are broken off and fall into the highway or on to the pavement.
The work will go ahead between today and Thursday of this week after York Better Bus Area funded the project and with bus operator Transdev provided an open-top double-decker vehicle to carry out the work.
