A NEW exhibition has been launched at York’s Chocolate Story, exploring the relationship between the sweet and the city.

Chocolate And The People Of York looks at the city’s original chocolate-making families - including the Rowntrees, the Terrys and the Cravens - and their industries which helped employ more than 14,000 people in the city from the nineteenth century.

The exhibition has gathered real-life tales from employees at the chocolate factories, and presented them alongside photographs and other information, which will be on display at the Kings Square attraction until October 23.

A spokesman said: “The exhibition will also celebrate York’s ongoing commitment to the chocolate industry. The city continues to produce some of the world’s most-loved confectionery, whilst small businesses including York Cocoa House and ChocAffair pave the way for the future of local and handmade confectionery. Visitors to the exhibition will find out more about the faces behind the companies who maintain York’s chocolate legacy.”
